Study of High Frequency Components in Electrocardiogram by Power Spectrum Analysis

چکیده
• In a paper read before the Chelsea Clinical Society on March 19, 1912, Binthoven stated that a string galvanometer, with a deflecting time of 0.01 sec./mm. when standardized in the usual manner, was adequate to record the form and dimensions of the electrocardiogram.* He further stated that if the string could be made 10 or 100 times faster, the sensitivity remaining constant, no perceptible change would be noted in the record. This conclusion remained unchallenged until 1933, when Reid and Caldwell reopened the issue. Using a vacuum tube amplifier and a bifilar oscillograph, they showed in a tracing taken on a normal subject that the one hundredth harmonic was twice as large as the fundamental. Since then, although a number of workers have examined the problem," the issue remains open. It is not, however, the purpose of this investigation to shed new light on the proper techniques for recording the form and dimensions of the conventional electrocardiogram, but rather by a new method to explore the possibility that the higher frequency components may contain useful information. This approach was suggested to us particularly by the work of Langner, in which he showed beading and notching of the QTCS complex in patients with ischemic heart disease."

Effect of Acute and Chronic Heat Exposure on Frequency of EEG Components in Different Sleep-Wake State in Young Rats
The recent literatures indicate that central nervous system (CNS) is highly vulnerable to systemic hyperthermia induced by whole body heating on conscious animals. In the present study, cerebral electrical activity or EEG (electroencephalogram) following exposure to high environmental heat has been studied in moving rats. Rats were divided into three group (i) acute heat stress-subjected to a s...
متن کاملA new approach to detect Life threatening cardiac arrhythmias using Sequential spectrum of Electrocardiogram signals
This study evaluates the discriminative power of sequential spectrum analysis of the short-term electrocardiogram (ECG) time series in separating normal and subjects with life threatening arrhythmias like, ventricular tachycardia/fibrillation (VT/VF). The raw ECG time series is transformed into a series of binary symbols and the binary occupancy or relative distribution of mono-sequences (i.e. ...

متن کاملPower Spectral Density Analysis of Purkinje Cell Tonic and Burst Firing Patterns From a Rat Model of Ataxia and Riluzole Treated
Introduction: Purkinje Cell (PC) output displays a complex firing pattern consisting of high frequency sodium spikes and low frequency calcium spikes, and disruption in this firing behavior may contribute to cerebellar ataxia. Riluzole, neuroprotective agent, has been demonstrated to have neuroprotective effects in cerebellar ataxia. Here, the spectral analysis of PCs firing in control, 3-acety...
متن کاملAlterations of short-term heart rate variability in periinduction period of general anaesthesia with two intravenous anaesthetics.
INTRODUCTION Alterations of the parameters of heart rate variability, phenomenon associated with autonomic nervous system balance, have been shown as a possibly very important factor for monitoring of cardiocirculatory system in the perioperative period. Periinduction period of general anaesthesia is very important with significant changes of haemodynamics what could be reflected in the changes...
متن کاملFeasibility of the Application of Moment Of Inertia as a Feature to Study High-Frequency Bands in Brain Signals
Introduction Many features, emerging from mathematical techniques, have been used in the analysis of brain signals. In this study, the physical quantity of “moment of inertia” (MOI) was introduced as a feature to enhance high-frequency waves (HFWs) in electroencephalography (EEG). Materials and Methods In this research, the recorded EEGs from F3, F4, and Cz points in 20 males were used. A total...
